Running into a endless loop of “Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed” issue while searching within a folder in Outlook and missing elements in the results? This is an occasional behavior that I have particularly noticed with Windows 7 and Office 2010, but not limited to this software version combination. I have a fresh Windows 8 Release Preview install of MediaCenter. When I try to add a recording using the Search method I see this warning down in the lower right corner: 'SEARCH RESULTS MAY BE INCOMPLETE BECAUSE THE GUIDE LISTINGS ARE STILL BEING INDEXED'.

I’ve that I rely upon the search feature in Microsoft Outlook. There are many times a day that I search for an important email. Usually, the search finds just what I need, but every once in a while I see this message: Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexedThe incomplete results wouldn’t be so bad, but too often the indexing never finishes.The is to rebuild the index when it appears that Outlook has stopped indexing. The procedure is easy enough, but if you have tens of thousands of emails to index, it will take hours and you won’t be able to search for anything during that time.I wanted to find a quicker fix and wondered if the indexing process just needed a restart.

A at gave me the direction I needed to put together a quicker-to-implement solution than Microsoft’s. Go to Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools. Double click Services. Find Windows Search.

Right click Windows Search and select restart. Close Services.

Wait a few seconds or minutes for the indexing to complete.Since I started using this procedure, I’ve had no large blocks of time where I couldn’t search my email.Now, if only I could find a way to keep Windows Search from stopping in the first place!

I had a similar issue a while back with Win 10. I rolled back any recent Win 10 updates, noticing that graphics card updates were included, as I believed this to be the culprit. Try this, hid the update in question, if applicable, and see if the problem resolves. Depending on the display you are using, you may need to either A.

I renamed thewindows.immersivecontrolpanelcw5n1h2txyewy folder on the affected computer and copied the folder from my computer, where searches work, but the user's searches still are incomplete. I did not reboot the affected computer after renaming and copying the folder, because the user was in the middle of working on some files.This issue is a little different than the one described in the link. Searches are incomplete for all accounts, both local and domain, on this computer.

The issue could have been resolved weeks ago if this actually resolves itRebuilding is the last resort. This user has a specific workflow and has adjusted the settings exactly the way that he wants them to maximize his productivity. He doesn't want to rebuild, if possible, because reconfiguring his settings will take more time than the searches cost him. So far, he'd rather live with incomplete local searches, because everything else works perfectly.

At first glance, this issue seemed like it would have a simple solution, such as rebuilding the index or reconfiguring Cortana.
