And though the writing can be janky at times (“You’re the dumbest smart guy I know,” a woman tells Malek’s Simon in episode 1), it’s intriguing enough in a quiet, character-driven disaster porn-sort of way to stick with beyond the two episodes we’ve been able to sample.Episodes 1 & 2 of Blackout premiere March 19 on iTunes.Black Panther and changed the last year, the Oscar-winning signals a new beginning for comic book-derived cartoons. (Photo: David Paul Morris/Bloomberg via Getty Images) MoreThe story of Elizabeth Holmes, founder of the multi-billion dollar health empire Theranos, that came crashing down spectacularly within a few years after being cited as a “massive fraud” by the Securities and Exchange Commission, is fascinating and infuriating on its own. Here, director Alex Gibney, known for directing Scientology doc Going Clear and the 2015 non-fiction movie on Frank Sinatra, Sinatra: All or Nothing at All, tackles the topic in a two-hour film that received rave reviews when it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley premieres Monday, March 18 at 9 p.m. On HBO; stream it on HBO Go, Hulu or Amazon. The title of Amy Schumer’s new stand-up special is a reference to her pregnancy, but it could easily refer to her growth as a comedian.
Schumer has always delighted in shocking audiences with obscenities and calling out double standards. But now that she’s married, starting a family and becoming more politically active, Schumer’s very funny reflections on life have taken on a new depth. Growing finds her in top form, bemoaning the experience of having a public pregnancy at the same time as Meghan Markle; describing the day she was arrested protesting Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination and opening up about having a husband on the spectrum. It’s a solid set that shows Schumer is a comedian with staying power. Amy Schumer Growing premieres on Netflix on Tuesday, March 19.
In my, I mentioned that there were in the works based on the beloved Hans Christian Andersen tale. Since then, a few announcements have been made about all three of these movies. Has a, and it's sooner than you might think. The circus-themed indie movie that's had out for several years now is coming to select AMC theaters on August 17th. That's in two months! I wish I could be more excited about it, but the plot looks a lot closer to the 2006 tongue-in-cheek teen mermaid movie than the fairy tale that it's named after.
The trailer focuses on how a little girl's belief in mermaids has the potential to save the aquatic heroine who is held captive in a tank at a carnival. I've been feeling indifferent about this adaptation ever since the first trailer was released, but it's nice to know that I will have the option to see it on the big screen very soon. Then, of course, there's the version, which has been on the backburner for almost as long as the indie one. Around this time last year, that they had hired of Hamilton and Moana fame for the upcoming project.
Here we are one year later, and they still haven't cast anyone yet. They are clearly taking their time, but that's understandable for something that would be so problematic to film in real life. Yesterday, the project sparked some controversy when it was for the film. The keyword here is 'considering.' No decisions have been made, so there's no need for people to get all up in a tizzy over it, and yet some did.
The very same thing happened when an Asian actress was cast to play Ariel on Broadway, which I've. The whole thing was ridiculous because anyone who has ever seen a Broadway musical knows that they are cast based solely on talent. Broadway is color blind, and it's about time that Hollywood is too.Not only do I disagree that considering all actors who audition for a role is controversial, but I also think it's a silly thing to make an announcement about it at all. Yes, I want to find out who they cast in the lead roles when the time comes, but right now they're just stirring up intrigue over nothing. After all, auditions are for anyone who wants the part.

They can't discriminate before they've even looked at their options. Ariel is my favorite Disney character, and I don't care what sort of background the actress who plays her has as long as she can sing.
That was the biggest problem with their. Emma Watson was obviously autotuned throughout the whole movie, and they added mediocre new melodies like 'Days in the Sun' in lieu of the beautiful Broadway number 'Home' because Emma would not have been able to handle it.Some popular casting rumors that have been flying around lately for Ariel include.
I'm a pretty big fan of Zendaya thanks to her brilliant performance on the Disney Channel show, and I would not be disappointed if she got cast as my favorite mermaid. It would be a little different to hear 'Part of that World' in Zendaya's soulful singing style, of course, but change isn't always a bad thing. Ariana Grande, on the other hand, is not the best actress, as she proved in, even though she can sing well. I personally could not see her in the role, but I did love that set Ariana Grande's songs to scenes from Disney's. In my opinion, the best thing they could do is cast a talented musical theater performer who is a fresh face that most people wouldn't recognize at first.

That is, after all, how got the role in the original animated film. Unfortunately, considering their track record with live-action casting so far, it seems unlikely that they will go that route. The final piece of the puzzle is the Universal Studios production that was supposed to star and be directed. Last year, both and bailed on the production. Once again, a full year has passed, and they still have not been replaced yet. That's a pretty telling sign that this movie is probably not going to happen.
Sofia Coppola claimed that the movie became too large scale, rejecting her ideas to film underwater and making it more about a business venture than art. If that's true, it's possible that Universal realized they wouldn't be able to compete with Disney, who announced that they were working a production of the fairy a little after Universal did. Perhaps they're planning on waiting until a few years after Disney's movie comes out so they can build an adequate level of hype for their own, whenever that might be. Back around 2012, a friend of mine sent me a press release about how Disney was making a new princess show about a little girl from a poor village who becomes a princess overnight when her mother marries the king.
The endearing image of the little girl on the press release instantly caught my attention with her unique reddish-brown curls, playful expression, and gorgeous lavender dress that was dripping with pearl accents. Something about this description and image got me so excited for the series that I got to work right away on making a of Sofia's elegant gown. The series premiered on Disney Junior with a TV special called in which Sofia received her legendary Amulet of Avalor and sang about her insecurities for her future life as in the song I loved her instantly. Over the next six years, she took me on a four season-long journey filled with. The internet went a little crazy when of the fully costumed actors from their upcoming remake last week.
When Does The Little Mermaid Come Out With Ariana Grande Movie
Many were disappointed with what they saw, which unfortunately tends to be. For instance, Aladdin's signature purple vest was changed to red, making it closer to of the show. He was also given a relatively nice shirt underneath, which is more than a little confusing for those of us who remember how poor he was in the original film. As the Genie looked a little too much like a normal human instead of a mystical blue entity, but apparently. Princess fans were most excited to see previews of Jasmine's wardrobe. In terms of quantity, the internet did not disappoint.
We now have images of three of Jasmine's looks that will be featured in the movie as well as a peek at her new handmaiden. For me, this regal red gown wa. Of the of that were announced within the past couple of years, only one of them has already finished filming and has a as of last weekend. Many of us who are fans of the original fairy tale took issue with trying to market itself as a new take on when bears virtually no resemblance to it. I liked when their Facebook page had the title A Little Mermaid, as that was more honest and made it sound like an original story, but it was soon replaced with the attention-grabbing title that would hopefully confuse people just enough into thinking it was made by Disney and convince them to go and see it. Ordinarily, I wouldn't even bother reviewing such a mediocre low-budget production that was made by, but the fact that it had a theatrical release and marketing campaign.
Being a princess can mean to different people. Gets a little more complicated. There's a joke from Disney's 2016 about what makes a Disney Princess when Moana tries to tell Maui that she isn't a princess, and he claims that if she wears a dress and has an animal friend, she is, which is pretty much on par for Disney standards.
Even though Moana isn't listed on the due to her movie being recent enough to market off its own name instead of the Disney Princess name, she was still included in. Moana is pretty clear about how she sees herself is in the song 'I am Moana' in which she states 'I am the daughter of the village chief.' The lovely who lends her voice to the spirited protagonist is also about how she considers Moana more of a heroine than a princess. Of course, with the way has evolved.
I just got back from Florida, and my trip would not have been complete without a visit to the Magic Kingdom! Ever since the 2013 Fantasyland expansion, Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has become the ultimate destination for. I noticed some changes to the since my last trip., these changes were all improvements. Instead of waiting in a long line to meet three princesses at random and hope to get the one you want, the princess meet'n'greets have been streamlined to specific spots for specific princesses, eliminating the guesswork and frustration of learning your favorite princess just got swapped with another one when you reached the front of the line.As usual, Ariel is next to. You can meet her in mermaid form at Walt Disney World, as opposed to Disneyland in California, where she only makes appearances as a human. Belle comes out in the secret library through the magic portal in her. Everyone's favorite princess-in-training, has met every that existed when her show began with the sole exception of. The power of her purple amulet granted her the ability to summon famous princesses whenever she was in trouble.
Technically, she never met Anna either, but the episode implied that she was supposed to meet her but got Olaf instead because her amulet was on the fritz. About a year ago, her amulet turned pink and granted her new powers. It now, meaning that the chances of her meeting Pocahontas at this point are virtually nonexistent.
Why did they acknowledge every other princess movie except this one? Actually, they did acknowledge in an episode of Sofia, but it was very subtle. In the 2015 episode of Sofia the First, Sofia discovers a hidden passageway beneath her castle where a boat. We now have our first for. This trailer expands on some of the images we saw in along with strategically chosen dialogue to keep us guessing about the story. Though it does not contain any additional footage of the mysterious girl and boy from the initial teaser, we do see a new character in the form of an underwater horse spirit revealed to be a, a mythological creature from various European cultures.
Reminiscent of the will o' the wisps from or the blowing leaves from, this shapeshifting spirit appears to be Elsa's guiding force to the magical elements of the film. We see a similar horse appear again later in the form of glittering lights alongside illusions of other creatures that later transform into sparkling silver leaves. The Nokk's magic will likely lead Elsa to her mysterious destiny that will be presented in this film.A major focal point of Frozen II is the inception of Elsa's powers. Today is a major accomplishment for me. I started this blog 100 days ago, and I've managed to write a new post in it every day since then. Some of the topics were easier to come up with than others. I also had to go back and edit some after the fact due to poor proofreading.
Speaking of which, I'm really sorry about the disastrous short story from my. The whole thing was written on my phone on the way to a Mermaid Art Show event in San Diego, so I was a little distracted. I promise to put more effort into future Story Saturdays, which should be easier now that I will no longer be writing new posts every day. Don't worry, though. I will still keep everyone informed of the latest princess news and review all the new princess movies and specials. Without further ado, in celebration of my 100th post, here is a list of 100 princesses with all of the posts I've made about them (in no particular order).
Thank you so much for reading my blog.1-11: T. The first dropped a few days ago, and it got me thinking. Onward has a typical fantasy setting of, and, but instead of taking place once upon a time, it takes place during our time.
Therefore, these mythological beings whose ancestors lived in the days of magic and adventure now live in your average suburban neighborhood watching TV and surfing the internet. The combination of magic and technology is not entirely new. Series like and also take place in modern settings, and the characters are shown to take advantage of computers and technology just as much as we do. However, most princess stories are set in the medieval or Renaissance era, long before such things were heard of. Sometimes it's fun to imagine how they might behave if they were brought up with access to all of the modern conveniences we have today. The first time I saw a traditional princess use modern technology in a fairy tale setti. Well, the verdict is in.
Is out on Disney XD, and we finally have the full story of where Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy gets trapped in a Disney Princess nightmare. The 'Black Vortex' arc is likely inspired by the Netflix series. It portrays the famous Marvel guardians getting trapped in worlds that look familiar at first but have something that's a more malicious just below the surface.
Unlike Black Mirror, these are worlds that remind us of different types of classic animated media instead of the world we live in. Each episode is split into two vignettes, so the princess storyline does not cover the entire 20 minutes.
