I'm a 19 year old dude and this is one of my favorite films of all time, having really affected who I am. Always been a history buff, and since I was a little kid I'd been fascinated by the story of the Titanic. When I first watched this film, I meant to watch it for the historical aspect, and planned to disregard the love story aspect because 'that's for girls.' Well, I was quite mistaken. The story and characters are excellent, and I sorta looked up to Jack as the kind of guy I wanted to be, just an all around good guy who treats everyone fairly and will do whatever it takes to protect those who need it. Using this excellently constructed character as one of my role models, I've grown from a depressed young boy with a negative outlook on life to a much more positive, happier young man pursuing a military career at a great school.
Moral of the story is, 'Make each day count' and I thank all who were involved in the making of this film for helping bring that message to me. If you haven't watched this movie yet, you really should.
I never would've guessed spending that $19.99 would change me as a person. That will change anyone's minds. It's a part of the fabric of our culture.Having established that, I will only add this: I find both Jack and Rose to both be immensely unlikable characters. Jack is a thief, a liar, and doesn't care a whit about Rose's future in America, or - for that matter - her past. He is an opportunist.
And, as such, he lacks any and all scruples. His only desire is to subvert, upend, and cause a stir.
He lives for the moment, and that moment must revolve around him. Nothing else beyond that matters.
His death is utterly trivialized by how little his life mattered - and that is one hundred percent due to him.Rose is, arguably, far worse. This is a woman for whom 'everything' was not enough - a member of the aristocracy at a time when the poor were little better than indentured servants. She mopes, she attempts suicide, she screws around with Jack (and then lets him freeze because that whole door? It's damn well her's).
These massive personality flaws might be written off as the product of youth, except that Rose spends the next 80 years utterly detached from reality, pining for her Titanic fling. Her children? Her grandchildren? They don't matter - they haven't developed a place in her cold heart that could even rival that brief, post-adolescent screw with Jack. And then she tosses the diamond into the sea.
Don't donate it to charity; don't leave it as an heirloom for your family - nope! Into the ocean! Because, you know, that's.meaningful,. or some garbage. The rest of the movie is just fine - the acting is excellent; the special effects were (for their time) astounding. But I feel like the central story is undermined by the two remarkably hollow and, frankly, downright bad people at its core. Unfortunately I don’t have a 3D TV but my PlayStation Virtual Reality headset plays 3D Blu-Rays so I at least somewhat got to enjoy the experience. What can I say?! A timeless classic remastered for 3D viewing makes the experience of watching this movie THAT much more immersive.
Crisp, vibrant picture and at a fair price which is well worth it. The only downside is that the movie is divided into two discs - but a minor downside in all which you receive - which is an invitation for a little over 3 hours worth of feeling like you’re actually experiencing a love story and tragedy of your own.I never had the liberty of seeing this movie in theater on a big screen but watched it promptly when it was released on VHS, then moving up to DVD and now the fantastic quality provided on Blu-Ray (and in 3D as well). I lost touch for years of how truly powerful this movie and story were until I stumbled across it on Netflix a little over a month ago.
I’ve watched it thrice more since then.I cannot help but blame Jack Dawson for my unrealistic expectations in men. I liked how it showed evrything about the Titanic, plus a bounus a Love story!!!!!!!!! I have watched this movie like 3 times and I am starting my 4th!
So trust me when I say WATH THIS MOVIE NOW!!!!!!!!! I absulutley LOVE this movie, TOTALLY watch it, especially if you haven't there are sooooooooo many great reveiews and I am adding to them, ofcourse!!!!!! So take my advise and watch it!!!!!!!!! This movie is inspiring and tells the true story of what happend on the Titanic. It also tells and describes what it was like for soooooooo many people on the Titanic while it was sinking and how it sunk. It also shows and describes how much people were shocked when the Titanic sank with soooooooo much detail.
Titanic 2012 Movie
So again, WATCH THIS MOVIE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - My daughter. Originally I had a version from the early years of the 90s it wouldnt even fill my 47' flat screen so decided it was time to upgrade to the 3d version with the 2012 version. I wasnt disappointed and with Cameron at the helm I knew I would not be, yes my flat screen is 3d capable and yes this one fills my screen.

The early scenes of underwater exploration had the debris floating into your living room and when Dawson was playing poker for the tickets they appeared to be in my living room too. You get a feeling of being even more involved with the 3d version. It cost me about $20 bucks and to me it was well worth it as an upgrade to what I had. I havent begun to go thru the 6 hours of special features involved in the combo, may update later on.
